The Rock in talks to play ‘Lobo’

Dwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock, has taken to Twitter to confirm that he is definitely, maybe, possibly playing the eponymous ‘Lobo’ in the upcoming DC adaptation. Brad Peyton was confirmed as director back in April, with Joel Silver producing. Peyton and Johnson have already worked together on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, so a revival of the partnership seems a genuine possibility.

The character Johnson will be possibly, maybe, definitely playing is a Czarnian alien who pays the rent as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. He relaxes by indulging in mindless violence and intoxication, and campaigns for the protection of space dolphins. Functionally immortal, Lobo can regenerate from a pool of his own blood and his name roughly translates as “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it.” Lobo is the last of his race, having actively committed complete genocide. In his own words “I’m the last Czarnian. I fragged the rest of the planet for my high school science project. Gave myself an A.” What a massive badass.

Is Johnson the right choice for Lobo? Watch this space…
