Another day, another Hobbit poster. Now, we’re as excited about The Hobbit as the rest of the world, but we’re beginning to reach saturation point with the promo-push. The images are all beautiful, but there’s only so many more whimsical looks at Middle-Earth we can take. We’re all going to be camped out to see it weeks in advance anyway, so they don’t really need to try so hard to whet our appetites; we’re not Hobbits, we don’t need six meals a day!

Still, I suppose we should tell you about our latest bite-sized chunk of Hobbity goodness, which comes in the form of a crowded poster showing off Bilbo’s travelling companions. Featuring the full complement of dwarves, including Sleepy, Happy, Grumpy… wait, sorry. Wrong dwarves. These are, of course, Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin, Thorin Oakenshield, Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori, and Ori, although we’re damned if we can tell who’s who without looking it up.

Some of them are obvious; Richard Armitage’s Thorin Oakenshield sitting nobly in the middle, for instance. And the more rotund fellow stuffing his face with cakes at the bottom can only be Stephen Hunter’s Bombur. It’s also a fair bet that the most senior looking dwarf – the one that looks like Steptoe if he’d never had a haircut – is brave old Balin. As for the rest, it’s anyone’s guess. We feel particularly sorry for whoever that is on the bottom right, as somebody has clearly played a very mean practical joke with his hair. If anyone’s going to be the Middle-Earth version of Grumpy, we suspect it’ll be him!
