  • Skyfall

    Probably the best Bond of the new era, Skyfall is an assured and at times jaw-droppingly beautiful action film. Veering slightly more towards the ludicrous excesses of the Bond of old, Skyfall simultaneously maintains the grittier, more modern style, making it an anniversary throwback and a distinctly modern Bond film all at once. Obsessed with the spectre of death and being replaced, Skyfall doesn’t actually have a great deal to say on those topics, but it does have a memorable baddie (finally!) – and if the climax is disappointing, it’s only in comparison to the mastery of the rest of it.


  • Edge of Darkness

    It turns out hell does have a fury like a woman scorned – a father’s loss. Just ask Liam Neeson in Taken and now Mel Gibson in his new ‘actioner’, Edge of Darkness. After a good few years dedicating himself to his behind the camera endeavours, Gibson returns to his -just this side of sanity- best with Edge of Darkness. Bad guys beware, you went after his daughter, now he’s coming for you!

    Green Lantern villain announced! It’s Hector Hammond, played by Jarhead actor Peter Sarsgaard. Mutated by a strange meteorite into a mute telepathic psycho with a massive head, Hammond is set to encounter Ryan Reynold’s Hal Jordan when filming begins this March.
