There are so many awesome Christmas films out there, each with a unique and viable message. The Grinch teaches us that ‘Christmas means a little bit more’ which is, at the best of times, a tad vague. Elf teaches us that ‘the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear’… but what’s the “cheer factor” really about? We need a NATIVITY, is what we need. Donkeys and innkeepers and paranoid shepherds, to make it all clear. With a celebrity ensemble cast, so it can take on Love Actually in style…

We are madly, passionately excited about how bad this film’s going to be.

Normally the we’d mock, but we’re genuinely fans of his work.

Touched by age and finally brave enough to sit through the taut kitchen scene without weeping (MIND THE LADLE!), I all but jumped at the chance to revisit Jurassic Park on the big screen. Re-touched, re-tooled and re-toothed, Steven Spielberg’s fourth greatest movie still stands a head and shoulders (and claws and tail) above its blockbusting competition.

There weren’t enough gills in it, apparently.

Take a deep breath and prepare yourself for an exhaustive year of EPIC action films. 2012 is the official year of explosive sequels, daring superheroes and hardcore fairy tales. Just make sure you have an oxygen tank nearby.

CGI can be brilliant when placed in the right hands but, as always, with great power comes great responsibility. While most filmmakers can resist the temptation of overdosing on special effects, there’s a few out there who would quite happily shoot themselves up with as much computer imagery as possible and then lie there in a happy stupor, admiring the monsters they have created. You watch a film where it goes from beginning to end, with no flashbacks at all, and you call yourself a hardened movie fan? Shame on you! It’s all about jumping through the plot, a little like dropping a needle at random on an old vinyl to see what plays next. It’s sudden, it’s fractured, it’s completely confusing… it’s sometimes a bit gimmicky. But, oh my, how we love a clock that tock ticks rather than tick tocks!
