With news coming through that Jon Favreau is totally bored with directing at a blank, green-hued screen while trying to ignore Robert Downey Jr’s stories about how he literally used to be able to smirk women’s pants off back in the day, and will therefore not be directing Iron Man 3, the question all right-thinking people will be asking is, “Why is Amazon taking so long to deliver my copy of Sudden Fury?” Others will be asking who will direct Iron Man 3.

The answer may well be Shane Black. An interesting, left-field choice, Black has worked with Downey Jr before on the slightly overrated modern noir Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. He’s also responsible for writing the scripts for Lethal Weapon, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and The Last Boy Scout, also known as the best movie ever made. So he knows his way around an action scene and can deliver witty repartee like it ain’t no thing. Sounds like a good choice to us.
