  • Life As We Know It

She’s that character, he’s that other character, they end up in that situation and in the end, the thing happens. Congratulations, you’ve just watched Life As We Know It. Can we go and do some suicide now?

  • Never Let Me Go

A confident distilling of a brilliant novel, Never Let Me Go manages to capture the haunting beauty of Kazuo Ishiguro’s creation without ever giving in to cinematic indulgence. Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield give mesmerising performances as lovers forced apart by tragic circumstance, and even Keira “act from the chin” Knightley gives that emotion thing a whirl.

  • The American

George Clooney finally backs away from cool, calm and collected in the strangely compelling tale of The American; a thriller that questions the humanity of a life without trust. • Fourth Bourne film gets a director

Much like The Sugababes (we start most news stories with that statement), it could be that the final Bourne product ends up looks absolutely nothing like its first incarnation. We’ve heard today that writer Tony Gilroy has taken over from Paul Greengrass as the director of Bourne: Legacy, and there’s no Matt Damon confirmation in sight. Lordy.
