Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) and the Wachowski siblings team up to adapt David Mitchell’s sprawling 2004 Novel About Everything into a film that’s crying out loudly to be called ‘epic’, and I feel I must oblige. It’s a sprawling transgenred character-filled wallop of a movie that will probably delight and infuriate in equal measure.

Today, the news broke that Susan Boyle – aka SuBo, the nation’s SWEETHEART – has signed away the rights to her life. Meaning, in other words, that next year some dreadful people with clipboards and cameras and booms are going to start filming a proper movie that’s all about her. Obviously, the question that is now on everyone’s lips is who on earth is going to portray the hirsute songstress? Luckily for you, here at Best For Film we’ve taken the time to wade through our “GR8 ACTORS” file and pull out some top names that could be in the running. Take note, filmmakers, this top ten list of potential SuBos is red hot.

Having picked up the award for Best Actress In A Drama at Sunday’s Golden Globes, it is already very clear what The Iron Lady’s strengths are. In choosing to take the woman out of the politics (or rather, the other way around), however, director Phyllida Lloyd runs the risk of wasting everyone’s time in exchange for one award worthy performance.

Prepare yourself for a relentless onslaught of legendary British voices, classic Aardman stylings, slick 3D and more Christmas spirit than you could shake even a really big candy cane at – it could only be Arthur Christmas. And it’s totally, overwhelmingly charming, just like you knew it would be. What are you doing on a computer? Just go and watch it, Scrooge – and would it kill you to wear a snazzy jumper?

So it looks like they’re making a LEGO film. And by “they” we mean the crazy people in Hollywood who want all the money but their brains don’t work any more because they replaced their brains with sushi and velvet yachts and cynicism so they think money can come from a film about inanimate bricks.
