Considering the amount of time, effort and money the big bad beasties of Hollywood have to put together a stunning window into the house of their creation, there’s no excuse for a bad poster. And as our nursery school teacher always told us, abject humiliation is the only way people learn. So here, for your viewing pleasure, is our pick of the top ten worst movie posters of all time.

The world of film is awash with Marmite topics – actors, genres or even cinematic styles which make some movie-goers dampen their plush seats and others tear the stuffing from the punter in front. In our J’accuse series, two of Best For Film’s writers go head-to-head and debate a controversial aspect of cinema. This time round it’s the worst nightmare of every indie Japanese director – the Hollywood remake.

Tracing the history of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division, best known to many as the company of soldiers portrayed in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, this three part documentary series relives the do-or-die missions of the paratroop regiment that played a key role from World War II through to Vietnam. Featuring dramatic testimony from the men who were there and using rare footage from the Division’s own film archives, The Real Band of Brothers offers a captivating inside view of armed conflict – but the lack of a firm relation to the Steven Spielberg tele-drama may leave some viewers disappointed.

For anyone who is debating whether to see Toy story 3 this summer, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. Pixar delivers another side-splitting, visual masterpiece guaranteed to have you smiling (and maybe crying, but just a little).

With the final instalment of the Toy Story trilogy opening in cinemas this week, it’s no wonder that parents (and grown-ups furtively pretending to be parents in order to justify their DVD collection) are stocking up on the celebrated parts one and two. Already being hailed as one of history’s most successful film trilogies, it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more DVD love from Woody, Buzz and the entire Toy Story team. And we couldn’t be happier about it.

It’s been revealed today that Tom Hanks and his Playtone production company is currently looking to lock down the film rights to the Green Day musical, which doesn’t even hit the stage until in New York until April 20th. What’s that, you didn’t know there was a Green Day musical? Yeah. Neither did we.

If there’s one word we’re definitely not getting sick of, it’s ‘re-make’. Tom Hanks seems to have jumped upon the band wagon, having announced today that his company PlayTone Productions plans to remake a french film entitled Summer Hours. And the best part? The film only came out in 2008. What’s next? We wouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow there’s an announcement telling us there’s planned re-make of Burton’s Alice In Wonderland underway.

Hollywood has decided to turn Dan Brown’s third book The Lost Symbol into another block-busting race against time. Though this decision was a bit inevitable, it’s still a brave move considering the last film, Angels And Demons, barely made half what The DaVinci code made at the box office, raking in a mere $486 million.
