Best of the Year is back, and this time we’re looking back almost a decade (Christ, can you believe Mean Girls is nine years old?) to the bright comedy lights of 2004, a golden age for charmingly stupid films with Ben Stiller in. Although we haven’t included Meet the Fockers, because it’s awful.
What’s the matter, guys? Never taken a shortcut before?
Another year, another chapter to the Scary Movie franchise. Apparently we’re on number 5 at the moment, but it feels like, thanks to all the new variations out there (Epic Movie, Date Movie, Disaster Movie), as if we’re more in the realms of 5,000,000. The trailer for World War Z, due to be released in June, reveals an Aliens/Hardboiled twist on the classic zombie genre. Brad Pitt’s not just a lone hero fighting off swarms of the undead, he’s a family man, he’s got kids to feed and prevent being fed on. There’s sirens and explosions and screaming and running and zombies and all the while Brad’s doing his marital duties and taking care of the wife and kids. Touching, yes? We think so. So we thought we’d compile a list of the top ten touching zombie moments.
A zombie dance routine? How quaint.
Hipsters everywhere piss pants with excitement.
The World’s End! 2012! Brilliant!
January’s crap. But London’s good, isn’t it? And films are ACE. What better way to cope with January than by seeing loads of films in London? Exactly. Fortunately, there are loads of people who really, really want you to do this – so much so that they’re doing, like, festivals and everything! Suddenly January’s not so bad aft- oh god, it’s raining again.
