  • Top 10 Films Named After Songs

Pedro Almodóvar’s new film Los Amantes Pasajeros, or I’m So Excited to us English-speaking jerks, is officially out in cinemas everyone! It’s obviously going to be totally weird because it’s by Pedro Almodóvar. Did you guys see that movie, The Skin I Live In? WHAT WAS THAT? Anyway, this film is more or less The Skin I Live In On a Plane. More importantly, though, the film shares its English title with a very famous song by The Pointer Sisters, which got us thinking: what other films out there have famous songs for titles? Turns out, loads. Because nothing in this wretched world is original.

  • Best For Film’s Favourite Flicks #16 – The Royal Tenenbaums

Our least regular feature is back! This week’s Favourite Flicks author is Nina, whose whimsical aesthetic makes her choice of film laughably unsurprising. If you love Wes Anderson’s classic The Royal Tenenbaums, then you’re amongst friends here – if you’re not, prepare to be converted by a gentle barrage of Gene Hackman, Bill Murray and the whole damn Tenenbaum dynasty.

  • Best For Film’s Favourite Flicks #15 – Se7en

I couldn’t have been more than 10 or 11 when Se7en made its presence known. Two decades have passed and I’ve seen over a thousand others since, but it is still the first one I think of when asked the question: what’s your favourite movie? Se7en is the reason why I have a rather morbid fascination with serial killers, finding the intelligence and imagination that some people invest into killing truly intriguing.

  • Top 10 Con Artists in Film

It’s difficult to hate a con artist – at least that’s what Hollywood would have you believe, if the multitude of movies paying homage to the skill is anything to go by. Here at Best For Film, we have our own favorites and seeing as we’ve just been reminded of them (thank you Identity Thief) we have chosen to compile it all into a tidy little Top Ten list for your reading pleasure.

  • Top 10 Magicians in Film

What with Oz The Great And Powerful and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone out in cinemas, it seems as if the world has gone a little mad for magicians, wizards and all those skilled in the art of prestidigitation. So, to celebrate in true Best For Film style, we’ve decided to pay tribute to the best of a magical bunch in a bid to find the ultimate magician of them all…

  • Top 10 fairytales that should be made into films

To celebrate the upcoming release of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, complete with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as a ridiculously attractive (and probably incestuous) witch-busting brother and sister duo, we’ve decided to take a look at the top 10 fairytales which DESERVE to be made into films. For the good of all of us…
