  • Disney in the Dock: A quest for the truth

Disney is to childhood what e-numbers are to turkey twizzlers. I for one can’t imagine what my formative years would have been like without Uncle Walt’s cartoon critters filling my mind with home-spun, all-American values. Safe to say I probably would have used my own imagination more, but what child wants that when you can just watch Aladdin? Not my 7 year old self – before you could say ‘made in Taiwan’, I had enough Disney related lunchboxes, books and toys to deserve a sponsorship deal.

  • Disney’s new project: Gargoyles!

As people whose childhoods were made up entirely of watching cartoons in darkened rooms, we’re always happy to know that our tender years was not utterly, utterly wasted. Disney has decided to adapt their glorious 90s cartoon series Gargolyes into a feature-film, and frankly, we’ve never felt more knowledgable (who’s life is pointless now, mum?)

  • Sneak peek at Disney’s Tangled

Don’t get too moist in your downstairs partyhouse, this sadly isn’t a full clip of Disney’s next blockbuster. However, short as it is, this little peeklet of Tangled – Disney’s new look at the tale of Rapunzel – does let us have a nosey at the style of the film.

  • Disney To Make Maleficent Movie

Disney are planning to make a movie from the point of view of the ultimate bad-gal – Maleficent, the woman who curse the beautiful dozy maiden Sleeping Beauty to sleep forever. And she turns into a dragon quite a lot, which is also pretty bad-ass. It’s sounds very Wicked to us (ie the musical that tells The Wizard Of Oz from the wicked witch’s point of view. Not that we’ve seen it. Or own the soundtrack.)

  • 5 Famous Stories Disney Stole (And Made Significantly Less Depressing)

God, life is rubbish isn’t it? It’s cold, you’re unattractive, that umbrella you nicked has been nicked off you (how dare they) and you’re really really unattractive. At least we can count on Disney – unstoppable global terror that it is – to provide us with some respite. But even big dog Disney needs inspiration. And a lot of the time, inspiration comes from existing tales, from history, from myths, from life itself. And it turns out the Disney version might be spruced up a bit…

  • Disney Gets Ready For Prom

After the world-domination success of the High School Musical trilogy, it’s only natural that the big dogs at Disney attempt a movie to fill the gaping gap in the tween market. And what have we learnt from High School Musical? Kids like High Schools. Kids like Dancing. Kids like other kids looking really fancy. Cue, Prom.

  • Disney Re-Names Rapunzel

Disney has revealed – via facebook of all places – that’s it’s 2010 release based on the story of Rapunzel is going to be entitled Tangled. It could spell the end of the Disney tradition of naming their films after their central character, as it seems that the studio is worried that calling the film Rapunzel would alienate boys and prevent them from wanting to see it.
