Disclaimer: I’m dipping my toes into Woody Allen. The problem with a director who makes a film a year, and has done for the past couple of decades it seems, is that for the uninitiated, tackling him can seem rather daunting. Where to start? The old stuff? His latest work? What are the hidden gems?…
The new clip called “Linda’s Photoshoot” shows her posing for the camera, and talking about her upcoming film role.
The first feature length film for director Jake Schreir shows us a glimpse into our near-future. Glass phones, voice-activated video-calling on HD screens, robots cooking lasagne; it’s really the 21st century dream. But what do we do with all the old people? Turns out what we do is give them robots and let them steal diamonds and antique versions of Don Quixote.
We wanted to say ‘Lovelace poster shows off Amanda Seyfried’s Deep Throat’, but you can’t see her throat at all. Oh well.
You put your Chloë in, your Demi out, in out in out watch Amanda Seyfried have sex at gunpoint. That’s how it goes, isn’t it?
Is it just us, or is Peter Sarsgaard in ALL THE MOVIES at the moment?
DC obviously think that Ryan Reynolds’ muscles are enough on their own to deliver a bruising punch to Marvel; but the rest of Green Lantern isn’t as finely toned. It’s everything you expect from a superhero movie, but absolutely nothing more. And it nicked its colour scheme from The Mask!
One expects this film’s curious title to be a weak pun on the surnames of the lead characters. One would be wrong. The name, ‘Knight,’ is tenuously linked to Cruise’s character but other than that there is no explanation for it. This lazy and incomprehensible title becomes rather apt for a film which does not require you to leave your brains at the door but rather put them in a lead lined box from which there is no escape.
It’s always refreshing when a thinking person’s rom-com comes around. An Education is not only beautifully constructed, but with wonderful performances, a tight script and questions of love that are difficult to wriggle out of, it’s a film that really grips its audience. Charming, sleek and funny, it’s hard not to be won over by this twisted romance. Just be careful, if we’ve learnt anything, its the danger of the power of seduction.
