Oz the Great and Powerful, the forthcoming Disney prequel to The Wizard of Oz, will be directed by Evil Dead supremo Sam Raimi.

Just two days ago we reported that Emma Stone was being rumoured for the role of Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, leaving the role of primary love interest, Gwen Stacy, up for grabs. Well, it seems those rumours were wrong; Emma Stone will not be playing Mary Jane Watson. She will, however, be playing Gwen Stacy! Does that make sense? Our brains hurt.

It has been reported today that Emma Stone, the cute yet surprisingly husky voiced actress from Superbad and Zombieland, will “imminently” be offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in Sony Pictures’ upcoming Spider-Man reboot. But will she even be the film’s love interest? Oh, what a tangled web we weave!

It has emerged today that Percy Jackson aka Logan Lurman has begun “talks” with Spidey producers Columbia Pictures. Oh dear, they’re all at it. First Sony shocks the world by rebooting Spiderman less than 10 years after the original film came out, and now rumour has it that the Bourne series might be going down the prequel route too.

Marc Webb has been confirmed as director for Sony’s Spider-Man reboot. The studio stated in a press release yesterday that the 500 Days of Summer director is officially signed on for the film.
