More like WINDFALL, right? Stupid Monday.
Wouldn’t want you to forget that we’re basically infallible.
In honour of the release of The Shining conspiracy flick Room 237 and next week’s extended US cut of the seminal horror, Stanley Kubrick gets his masterpieces soaked in a flood of warm cut-price plonk. It’s Friday, so give your weekend the box-set treatment and annoy some friends with your best HAL 9000 impression: “I’m afraid I can’t let you drink that.” Classic.
No matter how much the phrase “art house” appears on the back of the DVD, or the flimsy references to “philosophie” in the director’s biography, this film’s intent is clearly to titillate. This it does not.
If time travel is ever made possible (spoiler! It won’t be) we’d like to think that we could overcome our urges to start messing around with the fabric of reality. We certainly wouldn’t be tempted to do anything noble, where you try to avert a tragedy and save gazillions of lives, like killing Baby Hitler. No, no, here at Best For Film it’s likely our motives would be much more base. Winning the lottery comes to mind. Or going back 5 minutes and scratching our backs in juuust the right place.
We hope the other five have guns and hate Adam Sandler.
And it’s a bad day for Moscow.
