    So, in the US, Avatar has broken records for the fastest selling DVD of all time, selling 6.7 million DVD and Blu-Rays in its opening four days. It snatches the record away from The Dark Knight, which previously held it with which sold 2.7 million on its opening day, 500,000 copies shy of Avatar’s 3.2 million.

    In the nine years since The Office first appeared on out TV screens, way back in 2001, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have become household names and international superstars. The Office has spawned numerous foreign versions (The American version is currently on its sixth season) and their follow-up sitcom Extras went on to be just as successful. That’s not to mention all the radio shows, podcasts and stand-up shows the pair have done between them. So it’s safe to say there’s a fair old expectation surrounding Cemetery Junction, Gervais and Merchant’s first feature film. But is it any good?

    Everyone knows that Jason Voorhees doesn’t stay dead for long, but could his reign of terror finally be coming to an end, after just 12 films of slasher-based mayhem? The producer of Friday the 13th, the 2009 reboot of the series, Brad Fuller, says that there’s no plans at the moment to make a Friday the 13th 2. “It is dead. Not happening” he said on Twitter when asked about the sequel’s progress by an eager fan.

    For a film about the re-writing a political memoir, it’s rather ironic that the screenplay for Roman Polanski’s thriller should be one of its weaknesses. Characters are not fully formed in a script co-written by Polanski and Robert Harris, adapting his novel of the same name. Indeed, they are ciphers in a clunky and contrived plot that builds to a big reveal, which would be risible in less accomplished hands.

  • A New Del Toro Movie… And It’s A Rom-Com!

    20th Century Fox have purchased the movie rights to Jane Heller’s novel An Ex To Grind, and top romantic comedy actress Cameron Diaz and award-guzzling Benicio Del Toro are set to star. The chick-lit novel tells the story of a washed out star-athlete (Del Toro) who used to support his waitress wife, but now that his career is over and she’s a success, she has to support him.


  • Bond 23 Delayed Indefinitely

    Bond 23 has been delayed indefinitely by the producers at MGM. The new Bond movie has been delayed due to, “The continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio.” The statement from MGM further added, “We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23.”
