At least it’ll give him a chance to be upstaged by someone other than Johnny Depp.
Orlando Bloom has revealed that – in an alarmingly sensible move – he won’t be reprising his role as Will Turner in the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film.
That’s right. This year’s Cannes Film Festival is going to be presided over by Tim Burton as jury president. And we have to admit, we can’t think of many other film-makers with his level of pedigree. The man just doesn’t put a foot wrong. Ever.
Confirmation of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides came yesterday, announced (oddly enough) by the Governor of Hawaii. The Pirates team plan to film on the Hawaiian islands of Kaua’i and O’ahu and so it was the proud job of the local government to tell the world of their upcoming visitors.

From now until its March release, every Wednesday we’ll be getting new little tidbits of info about Tim Burton’s upcoming Alice in Wonderland. With a stellar cast (most of Brits – huzzah!) and Burton’s trademark madcap imagination, this is one blockbuster we’re actually really rather looking forward to.
Von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others) was drafted to direct new spy-thriller ‘The Tourist’ last year, but ended up leaving because of ‘creative differences’. After a lot of whispers and rumours about his possible re-engagement, he has today confirmed that he’s back at the helm, and plans to start filming this spring.
