  • Top Gun 2. Danger Zone?

If you were worried you’d lost that loving feeling for Top Gun (1986 was a long time ago) then prepare your libido for a good bit of excitement as the Top Gun 2 project is rumoured to be in the works.

  • Short actors wanted for Hobbit film

In many occupations there are unwritten requirements. I mean, you can’t work in a bakery if you don’t like baked goods, but I’m sure the job advertisement doesn’t state “must love bread”. However, were you making a film where the main characters are hobbits (short and slightly podgy creatures with hair from ankle to foot), and you want to half the scaling down effort, then why not advertise for what you require? Heightest? Hey, this is Hollywood.

  • Salt

Russians, eh? Just when you think there’s no more Hollywood mileage to be had out of their sinister accents and evil shirts, along comes Salt. • Friday Face/Off: Tom Cruise

Do you have a favourite actor? How about a least favourite? In our semi-regular J’Accuse feature, two of Best For Film’s most opinionated writers go head to head in a no-holds-barred tussle over an actor or film which one thinks is super and the other reckons to be shite. This week: everyone’s favourite couch-jumping superstar, Tom Cruise!

  • Knight and Day

One expects this film’s curious title to be a weak pun on the surnames of the lead characters. One would be wrong. The name, ‘Knight,’ is tenuously linked to Cruise’s character but other than that there is no explanation for it. This lazy and incomprehensible title becomes rather apt for a film which does not require you to leave your brains at the door but rather put them in a lead lined box from which there is no escape.

  • Mission Impossible 4 Gets A Director

The Incredibles Director Brad Bird is in final negotiations with Paramount Pictures to helm Mission Impossible 4. Tom Cruise is also set to return (well it wouldn’t be much of a Mission Impossible film without the Cruister!) and the plan is to release the film in May of next year, so expect production to start pretty soon.

  • Tom Cruise To Star In Cowboy Flick

…If his feet can reach the stirrups, that is. Ha. Haha. Sorry Tom, that’s not funny. Word is that Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger have both signed up for a new western entitled Paper Wings, which sees a rodeo champ falling in love with a country singer. We reckon Tom is playing the singer.
