Film radically altered to accommodate scene in army base.
Kevin James wafts back onto our screens as a listless biology teacher who just wants to chip in a few bucks and save his school when budget cuts loom. No bake sales here, as good-natured Mr. Voss enters the Octagon in a bid to literally fight for what he believes in. Take note, Here Comes the Boom is here to impart laughs and lessons in equal measure. Achieving neither, at least Kevin James gets a pummeling.
At least, we think that’s what he said.
The Expendables prove themselves to be The Expandables with The Unexpectedable second spinoff announcement
With that sculpted jaw, flowing mane and piercing blue eyes, up and coming actor Karl Urban is set to become a household name after starring in this summer’s hotly anticipated Judge Dredd. Fresh from appearing in a slew of epic fanboy sagas, he has a lot of experience in physical roles and is prepared to go further than the average actor to achieve the physical authenticity necessary to convince countless audiences that he is all too capable of kicking some serous ass. After getting a look at those impressive biceps in Judge Dredd, we don’t doubt it.
Put that Stallone-starring abomination from 1995 right out of your head – Director Pete Travis’ Dredd is a much more focused and faithful adaptation of science fiction comic 2000AD’s most famous and enduring strip, even if a lack of depth and some bland action stop it achieving greatness.
Just when we thought the Expendables series couldn’t get any better, word has reached us that producer Adi Shankar has plans to make an all-female version of action ensemble. Director of the sequel, Simon West has stated that he is fully on board with the idea (WHO WOULDN’T BE?) and would like to see a line-up involving the likes of Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich, Helen Mirren and Jamie Lee Curtis. We can see the appeal of those casting choices but here at BFF (which otherwise stands for Best For Females) we’ve dreamed up a list with a little more bite. So here it is chaps and chapettes: the top ten ovarylicious casting choices for an all-female Expendables. WARNING: Due to her recent involvement in the unforgivable Red Lights, Sigourney Weaver has been banned from this list.
Back to deliver yet more gratuitous violence, outrageous plot twists and dreadful puns, Sylvester Stallone and his team have got another job, and this time they’re joined by Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme. Subtle nuances and character development there is not, but The Expendables 2 knows exactly what it is and it delivers. Sure, the lines are literally made of cheese, but what’s not to love about a bunch of good old fashioned action heroes doing what they do best?
